We had close to 30 players show up for our final preseason workout. We finally had a dry night to get in some quality work.
The focus this preseason was fundamentals and team building. I do believe this was a success. We closed every workout with scrimmage periods but the majority of the practices were spent working on the little things. QB/RB exchanges, O/D line steps and hand work, zone drops, and simple things such as catching the ball for our WRs and DBs. Fundamentals will help us build a foundation for solid play heading into our regular season.
It was great to see the guys start to grow as a team too. The team will be about 50% new players. We told them every practice to meet and get to know someone new. You could see rookies joking around with veterans. You also seen more than one instance where veterans were giving new team members rides to the events. We talk about being family, but nothing is better when you see it start to happen before your eyes.
Overall, this was our last chance to get together before our Regular Season events get going. We averaged about 30 players per workout and have built our roster up over 50. This last workout was a great finish to a productive preseason. Id say we tied the bow nice and tight. I know the guys are excited about the upcoming season.
We can't wait to unwrap whatever gift may be in store.
